WMA issues new version of the Declaration of Helsinki |
October 2024 WMA issued a new version of the Declaration of Helsinki. Most striking changes include:
- a widening of scope,
- the addition that any intervention should be evaluated throughout their entire life-cycle via research,
- reference to candidate research participants and community involvement,
- the addition of the option for electronic consent, and
- the need for ethics committee involvement and ideally consent (!) in case of secondary use of biological material from research participants.
